Destiny Branay is an emerging self-taught oil painter from Baltimore, Maryland who is dedicated to using her practice as a vessel for communal healing and empowerment for the Black community. She paints vibrant and joyous images of Black folk in community with one another, centered around the idea of hope as an act of resistance against oppressive systems in America. Inspired by the unwavering perseverance of those who came before her, Destiny employs a star motif in much of her work; symbolic of the light that exists in Black people that refuses to be dimmed.
Rossana Romero is a Colombian visual artist currently residing in Ridgewood, New York. Her artistic practice revolves around deeply personal themes, encompassing elements of family, cultural history, migration, laws, environmental change and intimate aspects of her own life and relationships. Through the mediums of oil paintings and paper mache sculptures, Rossana combines portraiture and landscapes to explore the rich narratives and folk tales of both South America and the United States combining Western European and Indigenous mythology. Her artistic process delves into the realms of surrealism and memory, weaving together elements of fantasy and reality.
