NABILA WIRAKUSUMAH

Nabila Wirakusumah is an artist, writer and designer creating artwork under the moniker CHILD OF PARADISE. Originally from Indonesia, she was raised in Thailand and Hong Kong and educated in New York and Denmark. Her work explores the intricacies and contradictions of a multicultural identity — the way traditions can bind us or break us apart, and how globalization can alienate us from our duty to the sacred natural world. Elemental and ancestral symbols surround the feminine figures in each piece, whose expressions fluctuate from devastation to determination, rage to detachment.
